Greetings,

Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God (Matthew 16.16), who has been given all authority in heaven and on earth and has commanded us to go and make disciples of all the nations (Matthew 28.18,19).  If we love Him we will keep His commandments, I say it again, if we love Him we will keep His commandments.  He is the way, the truth, and the life, and the only way to the Father is through Him (John 14.6).  He is the Son of God (John 20.31), and the son of man (Luke 22.48).  He is our hope and faith and mystery of godliness (1 Timothy 1.1, 14; 3.16).  He is God's chosen one to descend from His heavenly place to this low ground of sin and sorrow, to suffer and die for the world's sin.  Jesus is all of this and so much more, to Him I owe my life.

The views of the world, and I am sad to say, even some who claim to be Christians concerning God and His word is nothing short of crucifying Jesus again.  The tempting of God by raising up the wicked and instead of exposing their wrongs, blessing those who call evil good and good evil is just morally and spiritually wrong.  But the true disciple, that is those who love and fear the Lord, empty themselves of worldly ways by crucifying the flesh with its passions and desires and deny self to do what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12.1,2).  They take heed knowing they too can fall from His grace (1 Corinthians 10.12).  They feed on God's word daily to strengthen and refresh their faith.  They know that there is coming a day when we all will appear before the judgement seat of Christ to give account of the things done in the body whether good or bad. (2 Corinthians 5.10), and they prepare their heart.  Our world would oh so better, if we found more Bibles on the table, and mothers singing Rock of Ages cleft for me.  Words of a country song; "Family Bible."

The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,  But to us who are being saved, it is the power of God - 1 Corinthians 1.18.  In His letter to Rome, Paul wrote: I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes - Romans 1.16.  The message of the cross is the precious story of Jesus.  It tells how He was tempted, but triumphant.  He was sinless but labored to save the world from its sins.  Yet, He was despised, afflicted, tortured, rejected, mocked and finally put to death, nailed to a cross, suspended between heaven and earth with two criminals, buried in a borrowed tomb paying the price for our sins.  But our Heavenly Father resurrected Him and He overcame death. Now through Him all who believe, repent and obey can have forgiveness of sins and hope of eternal life.

Father, this morning we pray for the lost who are perishing, that they might receive the good news of the message of the cross; the gospel of Jesus and would see the error of their ways that their hearts be softened and convict them so they would repent, confess and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for remission of their sins.  Father, help us who are being saved by Your power to tell the good news of the gospel to all who might cross our paths today. May we ever be faithful to You and Your word.

Are the clouds of sorrow surrounding you?  Are you weary from doing good and discouraged because your goodness did not bring the results you had hoped for?  Do you feel as though no one cares, so why go on trying?  Now is not the time to quit.  Now is the time to humble yourself under the mighty hand of God for He cares for you and wants you to cast all your cares on Him.  Jesus said: "come unto Me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your soul.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Without faith it is impossible to please God - Hebrews 11.6.  So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God - Romans 10.17.  Christians are commanded to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior - 2. Peter 3.18.  Knowledge is one of the Christian graces we are to add to our faith - 2 Peter 1.5-7.  Eternal life is knowing God and Jesus the Christ, whom He has sent - John 3.17, and is only possible through our knowledge of God's word - 2 Peter 1.2-3.  It is our duty to learn and to teach all that Christ has commanded us - Matthew 28.20.  Jesus said: "If you continue in My word, then you are My disciples indeed, and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free" - John 8.31-32.  In prayer to the Father, Jesus said: "Your word is truth" - John 17.17.  God's word is that truth which sets us free.  God's word can be understood, so do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is - Ephesians 5.17.
